Early Sign-Ups for Conversion to Summit Broadband Exceed Expectations

Within just one month of launching Pelican Bay’s community-wide conversion to cable provider Summit Broadband, nearly one third of residents have already taken the necessary steps to sign up by contacting Summit Broadband to arrange service, and the numbers continue to quickly grow.

Approaching the 2,000 milestone with 1,753 residents signed up, the early figures confirm that the cable and internet upgrade (with optional phone service) is currently running ahead of schedule and exceeding expectations as the Foundation works towards its goal of having 100 percent of residents signed up by June 1.

To date, fourteen associations have had more than 50 percent of their residents sign up, with Grand Bay leading the way at 91 percent. Cannes (75 percent), Coronado (66 percent), Claridge (65 percent) and Heron (63 percent) follow next. Residents from more than 97 percent of all associations have signed up.

Sign-up numbers, tallied by Summit Broadband, will be updated on an on-going basis throughout the conversion process. Lists of members who have signed up will be shared regularly with association Presidents.

In addition to the exciting and rapid response from Pelican Bay residents, personal feedback further suggests growing enthusiasm for the project. This is in large part due to the greatly expanded package of television services and high-speed Internet the fiber optic technology will provide. Another driving factor is a shared desire to keep Pelican Bay at the forefront of communities nationwide in terms of connectivity and selection of services.

Not to be forgotten are other incentives including the $25 credit Summit Broadband is offering for residents who act by April 1, as well as the $100 credit the Pelican Bay Foundation has arranged for residents to receive upon sign up. Customers can use the credits with Summit in any way they see fit, such as purchasing additional set-top boxes or buying optional services.

Residents who have not yet contacted Summit to arrange service can do so by choosing to do one of the following:

  • Call (239) 529-1500, a number dedicated to Pelican Bay residents only
  • Email PelicanBay@Summit-Broadband.com
  • Visit the Summit Broadband staff onsite at the Community Center from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, Saturday from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

With sign-up numbers growing, so too is the Pelican Bay Foundation’s commitment to keeping residents informed about the process, technology and more, every step of the way. To assist, the Foundation has created a news site at www.newcablenews.com where residents can expect to find important announcements related to the upgrade.
